Make Money Sewing

Run Sewing Classes From Your Home.

SEWING CLASSES

You will be providing an inexpensive and informal class. You could arrange to teach housewives, or retired grannies in the mornings and also see young teenagers in the afternoon after school, you can even take early evening classes for the working moms. Arrange a once a week class from the comfort of your own home.

This project is suited for the housewife whose children are at school or grown up, or retired, elderly housewives with sewing experience.

Confirm Your Market.

If the cost is reasonable and the instructions are good, the market should be great. If you have priced clothing recently at your local clothing store you will know. It will definitely be more profitable to sew these items of clothing at home. Everyone can profit by learning how to sew and they will enjoy saving money in the process.

Getting Started.

You will need a good sewing machine, and obviously the experience to qualify yourself as an instructor. One fringe benefit is that you can learn while you make your own clothes. You will save money while you make money. When your classes start to take off, you could ask your pupils whether they would prefer to bring they own portable sewing machines. This will mean that you could get through so much more work in one lesson.

How to Get Business.

One of the easiest ways to start this kind of business is by Word-of-mouth. At this stage I would not tell you to pay for advertising, rather place small notices on the notice board at your local supermarket. If you belong to a church or club speak to your friends and tell them what you are planning. Some schools may even allow you to talk to the older children about taking sewing classes.

Very Little Starting Capital Needed.

Your own creativity is the prime investment. You will of course have all the items required for sewing, so that will not be a problem. REMEMBER to specify to your clients what they will need to bring to class. Have your clients supply materials, patterns, cottons etc. to enable you to spend more time, teaching them all the aspects of sewing at home.

How to Make BiggerProfits.

Once everything is running smoothly, be sure to give business like, comprehensive training to all who enroll. Always respond to the specific needs of your students. Listen carefully to their requests. Remember in this type of home business word of mouth is one of the best ways of advertising your business. Consider splitting your classes, beginners and the more advanced. In this way you can create more classes meaning more profits. The more satisfied clients or students you have, means the more your profits will increase.

Avoid Pitfalls.

Remember never, never overcharge. Most of the people taking this course are doing so to save money. Find out about similar courses at the local Technicon and base your fees on these. Always remember, be professional, kind and friendly and give advice willing. Your business will grow from strength to strength.

Best of Luck.
